MEET KATHRYN WATSON, PT, DPT
Kathryn was born and raised outside of New Orleans, and was inspired to help others after 15 years of countless sports injuries and physical therapy. She graduated from TCU in 2018 with a Bachelor’s degree in Movement Science, before returning to New Orleans to complete her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center.
During her first year of PT school, Kathryn underwent surgery for endometriosis, which exposed her to pelvic and abdominal health physical therapy. Kathryn felt called to pelvic floor physical therapy, and began pelvic coursework outside of her school curriculum. After graduating, Kathryn worked with both pelvic and orthopedic conditions, blending her love for helping women and assisting those in returning to active lifestyles. Kathryn continued additional coursework and is working to obtain her Certificate of Achievement in Obstetric Physical Therapy, helping women through all stages of pregnancy and postpartum.

We are considered “out-of-network” providers. This allows us to treat the human in front of us and not the diagnostic code. Unfortunately, the current in-network model of physical therapy does not allow for the individual attention and detailed treatment that is provided by our Doctors of Physical Therapy at Restore + Revive Women’s Pelvic Health. Here you will receive the high end, one-on-one services that you deserve. Clients will pay for their treatment at time of service and we will provide you with a receipt that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Although we can’t guarantee that you will get reimbursed by your insurance, the majority of clients with out-of-network benefits should receive reimbursement. HSA/FSA are accepted.

No. In the state of Texas, you can see a licensed physical therapist without needing to see your doctor first. You can be evaluated by a physical therapist and be seen for 10 consecutive business days. The ability to see a doctor of physical therapy without needing a referral could be the difference in how quickly you are able to recover. Should you need further care after either 10 consecutive business days, a physician’s referral will need to be obtained to continue skilled physical therapy.
-
Yes, physical therapy is a covered expense for your FSA or HSA plan. We also accept cash, checks, and credit cards.

Typically, an external and internal pelvic floor exam is performed to determine the source of your symptoms. We do not use any devices, such as stirrups or speculums. We use skilled palpation techniques to assess muscle quality, strength, and coordination of your pelvic floor. We try to maintain your sense of modesty and comfort by providing a sheet for coverage. Ultimately, it is completely your choice whether you wish to proceed with an internal examination during your evaluation.
-
Yes! We have sanitary pads on the mat, plus we've seen it all before! It is up to you whether we perform any kind of internal pelvic floor assessment and/or treatment. However, you can always perform your instructed exercises while on your period.
-
Not necessarily! It depends on your symptoms, main complaint, and cause identified during your initial examination. Typically, it is not always necessary to perform internal work during every visit. We focus on physical therapy exercises to help meet your goal.
-
We will go over your birth plan, anatomy of the pelvis, different positions during labor, different positions during delivery (with and without an epidural), different breathing techniques, graded pushing, perineal massage, and exercises to help prep your body for labor!
-
We normally recommend any time after 32 weeks gestation! Any sooner and you're likely to forget one of the many things we'll talk about. Your labor prep exercises are normally recommended to start around 35 weeks gestation.

It's up to you! If you want to come solo, that's totally fine! If you want to bring your spouse, the more the merrier! Some women find it helpful to have an extra set of ears to hear all of the topics we go over. But if your partner can't take off work, don't stress! I'll make sure to give you handouts with everything you need.
